I am a virtual bookkeeper based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, serving small business owners across Canada. My goal is simple: to help clear the path and lighten your load so you can have peace of mind and spend your time and energy on what matters most.
Where you might see overwhelming piles of receipts and financial uncertainty, I see an exciting puzzle waiting to be solved and a transformation waiting to be revealed. There is something so satisfying about taking the numbers and turning them into a clean, organized and reliable map that gives a clear sense of direction. I have a natural obsession with the details and organizing but my true joy comes from helping others. I know running a business can be exhausting and overwhelming. I understand the late nights and endless tasks. I love being the person who comes alongside and lightens your load.
The Story Behind Trail Notes
I was born and raised in BC and growing up, I helped with my Dad's landscaping business books. My mom was his bookkeeper and I still remember sitting at the kitchen table with her, looking through paper receipts and adding up the GST. My parents worked tirelessly to provide for us. I remember going to bed a lot of nights, knowing Mom was in the office working late on the books, and Dad was right there with her (after a long day of physical labour) working late on job estimates and invoicing. I learned firsthand how much hard work, care and precision it takes to keep a business running smoothly.
My parents instilled in us a love for the outdoors and we spent our summers hiking, camping and being outside as much as possible as a family. Pair this with the inspiration of my parent's hard work and a desire to have my business name to be a tribute to them somehow. This is why I chose the word Trail.
Growing up I also had an obsession for paper. Notebooks, journals, planners and piles of paper. I loved paper (and still do!). My mom was like this too. We used to laugh at my Mom's saying "the books of the books." We would hear her say this when she had to go work on the bookkeeping. It became a running family joke whenever it came to piles of paper or notebooks. I had to integrate this into my name somehow and is why I chose the word Notes. In 2020, we lost my mom after many years of being diagnosed with early-onset alzheimer's.
Trail Notes is one of the ways I am honouring her journey and helping others navigate theirs.
Together, Trail Notes is the perfect bridge to the world of bookkeeping. Starting and running a business is a journey and requires careful financial recording. In bookkeeping, it is important to have an audit Trail and to ensure every financial "Note" is thoroughly documented and perfectly categorized. As your bookkeeper, I am here to walk alongside you, lighten your load as a business owner and provide insights that will help you navigate your way.
